The laboratory for CSF, neuroimmunology, pathology and special diagnostics, Topelex s.r.o., represents a unique multidiscipline centre in the Czech Republic focused on laboratory diagnostics, mainly of the cerebrospinal fluid – liquor, but also of the extravascular fluids and blood in the areas of clinical biochemistry, immunology, microbiology, pathology and cytology.

The workplace follows and further develops a concept of Laboratory for CSF and Neuroimmunology pertaining to the Department of Neurology, First Faculty of Medicine, Charles University in Prague, and subsequently to Na Homolce Hospital. In 2008, the laboratory was established as an independent legal subject, Topelex s.r.o., in the grounds of the Military University Hospital Prague. Since 2013, the major laboratory operation is located in the new premises of “Clinicum” Hospital Vysočany in Prague 9.

The laboratory has a significantly multiregional character (covering Prague, Central Bohemian Region, Liberec Region, Hradec Králové Region, Pardubice Region, Olomouc Region, Vysočina Region, regions of North- and South Bohemia …), functions as an expert centre for liquor testing in the System of External Quality Control (SEQC) in the Czech and Slovak Republics, and regularly undergoes both national and European control cycles of Interlaboratory Quality Assurance e (EQA). The laboratory tests the biggest volume of liquor in the Czech Republic per year, and its diagnostic specialisation has newly been focused on testing of other extravascular fluids as well as on pathological-cytological and special laboratory diagnostics.

The medical laboratory is certified by ČSN EN ISO 15189 at Czech Accreditation Institute.
